High variance, low-handed

Just wrapped up a shorthanded session at Poker Cats Arena. I'm glad that some of the crew don't mind playing short anymore, as that helps in times when the tables are short. And just like a "bye" week in Fantasy Football, regulars have off nights from time to time for whatever reason (for me, it's usually when I haven't been running yet or the online games are too good, which they usually are).

No matter, as you get to see a lot more hands and it's only a $5 game anyway. lol. BrainMc did very well, continuing the streak of Atlanta bloggers who mop up the crew's donkedness (my own donkedness included, lol).

I lost a couple buy-ins and then got carried away on the last hand, an O8 hand in which I made a straight with the top and bottom end, but lost to Ben having the nut straight with 9T. Long term, middle cards in O8 just aren't very good.

So I was down 3-1/2 buy-ins for the evening (UNLV 0-1) but my home record is still pretty good (12-7, up 15-1/2 buy-ins).

  • Bwahahaaa! I knew I would find out what you had there. Nothing quite like a having all the players all in on the last hand of the night.
