Writing peeve
I hate it when it looks like writers try to cram a cliche phrase into an article and it doesn't work:
Like this one from a CardPlayer last month:
Huh? Why would the fact that lots of locals filled the tourney show that the Beau is the only WPT stop on the Gulf Coast?
Or this, from a Bicycling e-mail I just got today:
I'm sure that's not the only problem he's facing, given his horrific crash and recovery.
Like this one from a CardPlayer last month:
Day One - Survival of the Fittest
The Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi, is the only stop on the WPT located on the U.S. Gulf Coast, and it showed. Many of the tournament's 256 entrants were local players from the surrounding area who had won their seats through satellites and casino promotions.
Huh? Why would the fact that lots of locals filled the tourney show that the Beau is the only WPT stop on the Gulf Coast?
Or this, from a Bicycling e-mail I just got today:
The Saul Raisin Miracle
There's only one problem for Saul Raisin: One miracle, living through a horrific crash, a coma and severe brain injury, isn't enough. He wants to race again.
I'm sure that's not the only problem he's facing, given his horrific crash and recovery.

1 Comments:
I would think his main problem is his parents named him Saul Raisin.
