It ain't a thing without the ring (I'm engaged!)
I worked to slow my heartbeat, thinking of other elongated pauses in reality like when you get it in at the poker table with an overpair and hope to God that the draw doesn't get there.
Like poker, this is a hand that's felt right. Unlike so many times before where I've tried to make the most of bad or suspect holdings and left empty at the river.
No matter how many downswings, I've always been the same player at the felt. After months and years at the table, I know not to over-celebrate my recent fortune to have an incredible running and life buddy.
But damn, I will live in the moment. It feels pretty good.
