A poker bloggers' quorum at the Georgia Dome

This past Sunday, I gathered with Sham, Surf and Skidoo for the Atlanta Falcons' first home game of the season against the Arizona Cardinals. Our last poker player gathering was in September 2009 for a game against the Carolina Panthers.

It was great to see everyone, I think it's been a few months. It also had been a few months since Sham and I had done the tailgating thing.

Like a preseason game, not all the kinks were worked out -- Sham brought out a new portable propane gas grill to complement the ol' battleaxe hibachi we've used the last three seasons. Only the new grill wouldn't fire up.

So with half the cooking ability, we made half of the food for the crowd but it turned out to be ok.

Another kink was that my cooler was full of beeze -- and nothing else. I usually have a few bottles of water or soft drinks available.

Better luck next time, I guess.

The game ended up being great, a rout of the Cardinals with a 41-7 win.

Anyway, great seeing everyone this past Sunday and I look forward to more tailgating -- and more Falcons' wins -- at the Georgia Dome.

  • I don't know why food tastes so good at a football game.

I have Roddy White and Michael Turner on my fantasy FB team -- need Turner to get going.
